JUNE 2021

Website redesign
LucasColusso

Challenge:  During 15 days , the proposal to modify the layout and organization of Lucas Colusso's website and portfolio was accepted.

Current scenario:  Every day, many people, mainly beginners in the field and even contractors, look for portfolios for inspiration, academic, methodological and personal knowledge. Despite being often a showcase to attract attention to your work, the creation process and technical tips are often added to the website as hard-to-find lists, making it difficult for the portfolio owner to pass on knowledge and understand and better absorb and search by user.

Project objectives:
After understanding the current scenario and interviewing the owner, the objectives for the project were defined:

EASIEST WAY TO FIND LINKS

IMPROVE RESOURCES PAGE DESIGN

BE A PLACE WITH EASY ACCESS/LOCATION

INCREASE THE NUMBER OF VISITS

assumptions

Before carrying out the research, hypotheses were stipulated to help us discover the relevant problems to be solved.

hypotheses

1st

Difficulty finding articles in the area.

2nd

Know the Difficulty Levels of each item.

3rd

Interactivity for searching and searching.

4th

Know the areas of design.

The search

I decided to apply a Qualitative survey with potential users, in order to validate some hypotheses raised.
The questionnaires were
made available through social networks in specific groups in the context of the problem.
.

a total of 5 individuals were interviewed.

I highlight here some questions and the main answers from users in terms of layout and design.

Question 1:
Cite the main problem you encountered in your design vision, navigating the site.

"Too much content and writing on the same page.
It is difficult to prioritize information and understand where to start."

"Paradox of choice. Too many options without knowing how to differentiate one from the others (why open this link and not that one?)."

Question 2:
Describe in "think-aloud" your way to find the article "How to create the perfect structure for a UX case study":

"first, I looked for a search bar to see if I could search. as I couldn't find it, I started reading the categories to see which one fit. I saw the "case study" category but couldn't find the article. so I scrolled to the bottom of the page to see what I found there, and I accidentally hit the title I was looking for. if I hadn't, I would use CTRL + F to find some word "

personas

By identifying users and their pain. Two potential users were highlighted, the target user being a Designer.

The site was separated into 19 categories (listed above) on the Resources page, and at the top, a four-column breakdown of the author's main work into four knowledge areas.

To summarize and organize the page so that the user can find the article quickly, Tags were assigned to the 19 categories and these were assigned to the four major areas already belonging to the owner's work. Thus creating a more systematic hierarchy and organization system for future additions and facilitation of demand.
